My Top Kitchen Must-Haves

My Top Kitchen Must-Haves

Before I started food blogging, my experience (and comfort!) level in and around the kitchen was minimal. I enjoyed cooking new recipes, but they were rarely healthy and usually cooked in the crockpot. While there is nothing wrong with the crockpot (I couldn't live without mine), I probably never would have branched out from the same-old, same-old if it hadn't been for this therapeutic space of mine.

In the beginning, and until very recently, my kitchen tools and gadgets were very very limited. I would instantly steer clear of a dish if a vegetable needed to be julienned, something needed to be purรฉed into a smooth cream, or the words 'cocotte' or 'food processor' were part of the food production process.

And zesting?! forget it!

Thankfully those days are long gone. No more days of hammering my chicken with an actual hammer (this is a true story; and, if you're wondering, highly ineffective) or trying to zest lemons and limes or grate ginger with a cheese grater (warning-it will destroy your cheese grater).

The Microplane saved my life.

Of course, I didn't just go out one day and purchase each of these items- some are quite costly!- however, I could not imagine my kitchen now without each and every one. They have made great birthday, Christmas and anniversary gifts (thank you, husband).

On that note, have you done your holiday shopping yet?
