How to Remove Hard Water Stains from Toilets
I am here today to talk about toilets.
Toilets are nasty, disgusting and completely necessary (I have spent a lot of time in Asia, trust me on this one). Unfortunately, since moving into our current home, our shiny white toilets have acquired some pretty awesome hard water stains. The toilet you see below? That toilet is totally clean. I mean, I wouldn't drink out of it, but it had just been scrubbed with a brush and chemicals and wiped from top to bottom with Clorox wipes.
Yes, I am serious.
Now, I don't know about you guys, but when I look at that toilet I don't see clean. I see a toilet that looks like it's been completely neglected and abused. As a result, whenever company would come over I felt the need to warn them and apologies for my nasty toilets which were, in fact, clean (unless they weren't clean, and then I would just warn them).
Time has passed, more people have come over, more scrubbing has been done, new products have been tried and nothing. NOTHING. Just the same old ugly ring.
Now I was pissed.
So I Googled, "how to remove toilet bowl ring" or "how to remove hard water stains from the toilet". Everything I found led me to some cleaning product (thanks, but, no thanks) or a pumice stone. Since Home Depot is Octavian's favorite store in the world, we made the trip. So that we could spend as much time as possible in the gardening equipment aisle, I asked a nice man where to find the pumice stones. Then I asked him if a pumice stone would actually work to clean hard water rings from toilet bowls.
He stopped me right there.
No no no no no pumice stone. Too much risk of scratching the porcelain. So frustrated I almost asked the man to show me to the toilet section.
Thank goodness, this toilet angel from Home Depot had a better idea- Fine Grit Drywall Sanding Screens. YOU GUYS, this man saved my toilets!
Oh yeah, and it only took me 5 minutes...
What you'll need:
1. Hard water stains from hell (and feet in desperate need of a pedicure).
3. Sparkly clean.
Yay! Sparkling CLEAN toilets! And just in time for the Holidays!
Seriously, though, that's all it took. So easy.
