Strawberry Nutella Milkshake

Valentine's Day may be a few weeks away, but the explosion of pinks and reds, hearts and flowers, have me way too excited to wait.

Oh, and Octavian's favorite color is pink, which just adds to my excitement and makes me love the holiday even more.

For me, early celebrations always come in the form of food. I can't help myself.  Time of happiness and cheer instantly direct my brain to sweet yummy treats. It's an uncontrollable reflex.

So with Valentine's Day three weeks away, all my thoughts have been on cute red and pink treats, pretty flowers and boxes of chocolates (the BEST part). Somehow, I have maintained just enough self control, however, to hold off on following through on actually making any red velvet cakes or donuts or other yummy sweets.

Until yesterday.

Yesterday, Target happened.

The sprinkles! cupcake liners! bakers twine (I mean, really?) and adorable heart straws sucked me in.

Game over, guys.

I didn't have time to make a cake or cookies or doughnuts, so I made the next best thing, a milkshake. This delicious strawberry nutella milkshake is the perfect balance sweet ripe strawberries and rich chocolate.

Although I usually try to avoid giving sweets to Octavian, today I made an exception (after all, he did help me pick out the sprinkles). My little Valentine could hardly contain himself when I gave him his own little cup and heart straw.

Pure joy.
