Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I don't know about you guys, but this past weekend flew by.  The husband got back from his week-long business trip late Friday night, so we all woke up happy campers on Saturday morning.  All week, I brought Octavian into bed with me when he would wake up in the morning. Poor guy must have gotten used to it being just me in bed with him in the morning, because when I went to get my early riser from his crib at 6am and move him into bed with me, he was not happily surprised to find his dad laying there next to him.  In fact, this strange man in bed with us, who, coincidentally also makes up half of Octavian's genetic make-up, scared the crap out of him.  We're talkin' big, hysterical crocodile tears and koala bear clinging to me until I removed him from the bed.  Apparently he forgot the sound of his dads voice.

So I took him downstairs, turned on Thomas the Train, snuggled in together on the couch (his favorite spot) and he forgot all about it.  I may have fallen back to sleep for 30 minutes.  I limit his daily TV time to about 30 minutes each day, but sometimes I will make an exception. Snuggles and extra sleep - totally worth it.  Plus, it was Saturday.

The rest of the weekend was filled with lots of errands and equal amounts of cooking and baking.  Yeah, don't let the photos fool you, they were taken two weeks ago.

I can't complain, though.  The errands included Costco on Saturday and Ikea on Sunday.  Nana came with us on Sunday so we didn't have to worry about chasing our crazy toddler through the insane maze that is known as Ikea.  We walked out with a new sit-stand desk for the husband, toys for Octavian, a random assortment of dishes for me and a new stack of dish and hand towels (Ikea has my favorite).

This was my weekend, exciting stuff, I know.  Despite its lack of outdoor adventures, it was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. There was no arguing or miscommunication between me and my husband and Octavian was happy and content (or, when he wasn't, I had backup).  Everything about the weekend felt easy.  I even got to shower alone, dry off alone and get dressed alone.

I ended my weekend with two and a half glasses of wine, The Mindy Project and chocolate.  Forgetting that I'm a complete light weight these days, I was passed out on the couch by 9pm.

Hope you have a great Monday!
