I am the most frugal person on this planet. I wasn't always this way. It's Aaron's fault. The two of us together? Well, we're the worst. You can imagine how annoying we are when we actually decide to put our money into something other than housing and groceries- coming to an agreement and making a decision is like climbing Everest, a nearly impossible task.
I've been wanting to invest in a DSLR for years and years. Aaron didn't think the interest would stick around (I don't blame him, it was a very new interest), so he surprised me several years ago with a super fancy point-and-shoot. It took fantastic pictures, and still does, but it never quite scratched the DSLR itch.
So, a couple weeks ago, I opened up the DSLR conversation again. While we aren't in the position right now to be making big purchases, I couldn't wait. Octavian is getting bigger (and faster!) and I needed a camera that could take pictures of him where he isn't just a giant blur. He's nearly a year old and I'm already kicking myself for not investing sooner. Anyway, my fancy new camera got here Monday and every chance I get I'm taking photos.
Guys, I have no idea what I'm doing. These things are confusing! While I have a very basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO, that's about as far as my knowledge extends. Despite my elementary photography skills, I am having so much fun figuring it out! I am a bit of a perfectionist, so it's been a good reminder to be patient with myself.
However, the camera has not helped my itch to get out and travel again- there is some serious wanderlust going on over in my house these days.
Thank goodness I have this sweet little boy to photograph in the meantime.
Any photography tips I should know about?
